Guest guest
Black Bean Brownies (One of the most requested LPC recipes) Ingredients: 1 box any commercial prepared brownie mix 1 15.5-ounce can black beans Directions: 1. Open can of beans. 2. Place can's contents, including liquid, in blender. Blend. 3. Mix thoroughly with brownie mix. (No eggs, oil or other ingredients needed.) 4. Place in oiled baking pan. 5. Bake according to package directions. Cool and serve. Approximately 100 calories per brownie, which are also low-fat and high fiber The next time you THINK you are perfect, try walking on water! Guest guest
Actually, I copied this recipe. I plan to try it very soon, as I think the black bean texture and mild taste and color will fit in very well with the brownie mix and give it an extra fiber and protein kick! The recipe sheet is on my counter now kind of hidden so my sons won't see it and pre-judge the results....LOL. I remember when my younger son made super virgin green olive oil brownies for company one night because the box called for 1/3 cup oil, and they were great! What does LPC stand for? Just curious! Thanks for sharing this! Guest guest
My friend says they are good! You are using the beans to bring up the fiber count, and as a binder. You never know till you try them. I was going to make them this weekend. I thought gross!, but then I thought about it and black beans are sweet beans too......never know. IMNSHO, if someone is revolted by a recipe which has been very kindly posted to this list, then the revolted one should kindly resist comment. If the revolted one has tried the recipe and is still revolted, then he or she is welcome to say that they didn't find it appealing. (Go on - betcha love it!) For the record, in some cuisines chocolate can be added to savoury dishes, including those with beans; in some other cuisines beans can be combined with sugar to make a sweet bean paste which is great for celebration cakes and buns. This recipe is ingenious - and if it has *not* been tested by Tina (as her comment above suggests), then it should be tested by some brownie fiend *immediately* (don't walk, RUN to your nearest kitchen LOL) so that we can add it to our Files! Btw, how many does it serve? Roughly. (Without that info, the 100 cal. per serve doesn't say much to me.) Just wondering. Thanks for posting!!! Guest guest
Well, it makes a 8x8 pan(or 9x9) and so I would think you would get 12 brownies. But if you like them thinner, it would make a 9x13 pan and you would get about 20. I serving size of brownie or cake is generally a 3 inch square. ---- Pat 06/02/06 07:58:18 Re: Black Bean Brownines >You never know till you try them. I was going to > make them this weekend. Guest guest
I haven't made the recipe posted, but I have made a cake with beans in it... really the beans disappear and it's quite good.
