Guest guest
I would like to add my two cents with the high calories of dairy, but also to mention that some people choose to avoid dairy for animal reasons and some for health reasons. It just really isn't that good for us, contrary to the what the " dairy board " would like us to believe! I, myself, would love to see more recipes with great flavor without dairy, and occasionally if possible for those really weak stomachs (mine) without tons of peppers and spicy additives. Now, question to the group, do these recipes need to be our own inventions or is it ok to post some great ones we find out of cook books, so long as we give them credit? Guest guest
K- I do beleive the rule of thumb on recipes here is that you have to have already tried them out. Home-invented or cookbook isn't the issue. And I'm with you 100% on the dairy. I've been scouring for low fat vegan (and some not-so low-fat vegan, in prep for holidays). I do like spicy and pepers, but I also look for milder stuff to try for my kids. Once I try out some of the dozen or so I found today, I'll be sure and post! Guest guest
I concur about the recipes; if they're tried and true, doesn't matter where they came from; your head, a cookbook, a relative, etc. and so forth...credit is good to give if it is from a commercial book or magazine though. Do post away Beth once you've tried them out! Happy cooking! Cindi Beth Adams <puzabeth wrote: K- I do beleive the rule of thumb on recipes here is that you have to have already tried them out. Guest guest
Another note on non-dairy: There are a bunch of dairy replacement recipes, with much lower fat than even low fat dairy products, on our groups web site. Go to /, click on Files, then Recipes (where all of our saved recipes are stored!), then Fakes. I think it is best, for weight loss, to avoid recipes with multiple dairy (or low fat dairy, or even lower fat dairy replacements) and try to pick recipes with more veggies/more fiber. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ from Maida Citizens for Pets in Condos, Inc. www.petsincondos.org - a Florida non-profit corporation South Florida Vegetarian Events www.soflavegevents.net <http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/gateway.aspx?S=5176697856>
