Hi all ~

Since it's the start of a new month and I know we have some new members, I

thought a " roll call " would be in order so we know who all is here and where

we're at. Another group I'm on does this on a semi-regular basis and I always

liked the idea.

So here we go...

Your name:

Your location:

How long a vegetarian:

I'll start...

Cindi

Davis, CA (just west of Sacramento)

Been strictly vegetarian almost 2 years now (Thanksgiving is my meat free

anniversary!)

Hi Kym ~

That's great that you were able to trade chores for meat. How inventive! I

never was fond of seafood so that's never been an issue. Being where you're at,

that probably makes it even harder!

Hi

This is a great idea as it has got me out of lurking mode and hopefully

others too! I am Carolyn from Liveprool England, a strict veggie for about

15 years, aspiring to veganism but not quite there yet, I can do without

milk and cheese, only eat a few eggs, and try to rely on as few processed

foods as possible, but there seems to be lactose in almost everything, at

least over here in the UK.

However, sadly, I do need to lose weight, and that is why I joined this

group.

Don't be sad! At least you are taking steps to lose the weight you need.

You'll feel better along the journey. I've lost 17 pounds and I can feel a

difference even though I have more to go.

Cindi,

My mother never knew that was the trick! Carol (Stepsister) took advantage of

that and the fact I was 4 years younger. I still think it was fair trade!

Staying away from seafood when I live in a Coastal town is difficult.

Especially since EVERYONE that visits immediately wants to have that fresh

seafood that is so abundant here.

I have found there is no substitute for fresh fish and chips or clam chowder.

Although I must admit that I never liked the actual clams and I would pick them

out, but the flavor of clam chowder or clam dip. Sigh.

Last summer when my parents were visiting and there were days the ate fish every

day (they live in the desert) I even tried the beer batter dip for tofu to see

if it would scratch the itch. I think if I had frozen it, and cut it into narrow

strips it would have been better. I settled instead for deep fried veggies,

though yummy, I am now on a more serious diet! excess don't cha know!

Hi Heather ~

What part of NorCal are you in? I'm in Davis, which is more Central Valley

than North, but being from SoCal, it's north to me!
