Guest guest
Has any vegan (or otherwise) had the experience of eating some dairy (especially cheese) and getting stomach pain for over 1 day? I went out to eat with some friends to a pizza place and ordered a salad and spinch/mushroom pizza slice. Both came with tons of mozzarella cheese. About 1/2 hour after eating my stomach was bloated and my heart was racing. When I woke up the next morning (yesterday) I still had the stomach pain, which was very unusual, to say the least. (I also had no appetite, which is even more unusual!) I went to the doctor and he did a bunch of tests. In the meantime, I have to get with the program and stay away from fat and dairy. Guest guest
I'd guess your system's not used to the fat. my mom complains similarly when she eats fatty foods. i'm a sucker for butter & cream. Guest guest
Has any vegan (or otherwise) had the experience of eating some dairy (especially cheese) and getting stomach pain for over 1 day? Yes, it is not natural for our body to digest cheese or meat. We adapt, and significantly increase our HCL and other enzymes. This does not mean it is good for us, and there are penalties people face for eating dairy or meat. My belief is never miss an opportunity to join our friends and loved ones when they go out to eat. At such situations, I ask for pizza with lots of veggies and no cheese. Some places will even substitute two veggies for cheese, others will comply and look at you strangely. But it’s great. If you have friends over that want pizza and a you don’t want a whole pizza, ask for ½ just veggies and the the rest put your cheese on that half. Have fun! Guest guest
Colleen, I used to just get mild pains, did not know from what. I finally figured out it was dairy. Now, I can eat some chocolate with mild discomfort to just plain ole discomfort. But now, years later, if I get something that has cheese or whey, etc.. in it, I get bloating, severe cramping, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (to put the rest of the effects politely) all the way to vomiting and i-think-i-am-gonna-die-i-am-so-stupid cramps. I now refer to my experience with dairy as death-by-dairy. The last time I had cheese it affected my asthma. So, my suggestion to you is to be aware that your body may have politely said, I am finished with this product. Move on. Now for my advice, LISTEN to it before it gets angry! :0) Kym - Coleen Saturday, December 09, 2006 8:00 AM Gastritis or?
