Guest guest
Hi Stephanie ~ Welcome to our group! I see you just became vegetarian recently. Congrats! How are you finding it? Any issues you've had you'd like to talk about or questions you have? Are you also looking to lose weight? Most people on this list are actively trying to lose weight, or maintain their weight. I've been doing Weight Watchers with great success; 30 pounds gone and counting. Mostly it's just helped getting back to normal portion sizes and being more aware of the recipes my partner and I pick out for the week. Again, welcome! Guest guest
Cindi, congrats on your weight loss. I have a lot to lose and have been on a diet since I was 10 so motivation is hard for me. I have lots of fat free cookbooks but haven't posted the recipes honestly because they are bland and gross. So I apologize for not posting too much here. . I think the hardest thing is since becoming a veggie I have gained about 25 pounds and each day I find out more and more the ingredients in low fat foods are with animal products. On the flip side my 10 year old lost weight and I struggle to know how to add more on him. I am sorry for the frustration we all just look horribly sick lately dispite being told by a nutritionist we are well balanced so I am on the fence again if it is all worth it. which is a shock since I have such a passion to save animals . Thanks for listening it just has been a rough couple of months for my family around vegetarianism. Steph Get your own web address. Have a HUGE year through Small Business. Guest guest
I seem to be hungry all the time on vegetarian diets also. But, I also have a slow thyroid and since my meds have been changed to generic, i have gained 30 lbs in a matter of 3 or 4 months. I am truly sick of being sick and fat. Isn't there anyone who has an answer? , Steph <mrswalp29 wrote: > > Cindi, > congrats on your weight loss. I have a lot to lose and have been on a diet since I was 10 so motivation is hard for me. Guest guest
Sorry to hear of your frustration Steph. What types of meals have you been making? It may take some extra work, but you can always alter the meal to make it lighter for you and heavier for your son. Perhaps if you give us some examples of the foods you two are eating, we can offer up some more suggestions. Hang in there ~ we all have rough patches, but it will pass. Guest guest
Cindi, I have been eating recipes from my fat free cookbook aka no taste cookbook..lol last night we has lasagna rolls which for two has 237 calories and a salad dry. My ten year old had it with a roll and salad. The problem is these recipes don't have flavor and we love Mexican so Aaron says the food has no taste. The night before we had the veggie pizza I posted and carrots. At breakfast I have oatmeal usually and lunch salad without dressing. Normally I take a little plain yogurt so it has something on it. after the meal we have popcorn. The problem is beside I dont lose weight is the lightheadedness. It is aweful. Thanks for caring. Guest guest
Sounds like you're eating really lightly. Are you on a doctor prescribed diet or anything? The lightheadedness doesn't sound good. Are you eating enough protein? Soy, beans, nuts, etc? (Although beware of too many nuts as they are high in calories) There are many spices and herbs you can experiment with to add taste and zing to your recipes. The most important thing you want to remember while trying to lose weight is really, not to " diet " . It's all about changing your eating habits so it sticks with you for life. You will have an adjustment period, but you shouldn't have to go through being lightheaded regularly or not enjoying any of your meals. If I recall correctly, you've been eating a vegetarian diet for about 3 months now? Maybe you need to find better low-cal cookbooks! :-) Hang in there and know that we're here to support you anytime, just shoot a post out to us! And know that if one weight loss approach isn't working for you, there are other methods, as long as it's not a physical/allergy issue.
