Guest guest
I dont know if it was this group or another veggie group I am on that recommended hungrygirl.com but it well worth signing up for her daily e-mails. I have been getting loads of fun recipes for myself and the kids. I know how some of us feel about weird products and fake meat I agree but when you are trying to lose weight you need to be creative. On hungry girl this morning she was talking about peanut butter and how there is a new product out called PB2. You can only buy it online now but it is actually powdered peanut butter they have removed almost all of the fat. It has 58 calories and 3 grams of fat for two tablespoons. Since it is powdered you need to add something to it but she said it works just like real peanut butter. I looked at the website it didnt say what the ingredients were. I thought everyone should know. Steph

But I just looked at Hungry Girl and was disappointed to see that it wasn't a vegetarian site although I do see veggie recipes there. I say this as a mild warning only to anyone who is a new vegetarian and might find themselves drooling at the sight and description of 'juicy chi**en' or lovely shr*mp, or whatever, and finding themselves tempted to go off the veggie wagon. But I do see that she uses Weight Watchers points for her recipes, which is a help to those of you who keep track of your intake that way. Guest guest
Hi Steph ~ Yep, that was me that sent it in. I'm glad you've found it useful! Guest guest
Hi Pat ~ Yes, it was me that sent it a little bit back. I've been getting the daily emails for a while and haven't noticed her to be overly " meaty " ; but perhaps I just have a good filter for that! ;-) I find some of her alternate snacks, etc. to be quite creative and they look yummy. I understand your concern though for those who feel they are being " forced " to be vegetarian (aka not enjoying it!) being tempted as opposed to those of us who have chosen this dietary lifestyle and aren't tempted by seeing recipes which include meat. Guest guest
Cindi, I love it her site is fun and youthful so many of the recipes my boys like and she has all the calories listed. I understand about the meat on her site but as a vegetarian I think we tend to have to look at everything closely anyhow so for me the good out weighs the bad. Thanks again for posting that site it is very helpful when you are on a diet and can only see carrots and celery in your future to know there are more options out there. LOL That doesn't mean it isn't an excellent site for weight-loss through calorie control, even if not directed to vegetarians. > I understand your concern though for those who feel they are being " forced " to be vegetarian being tempted as opposed to those of us who have chosen this dietary lifestyle and aren't tempted by seeing recipes which include meat. It was meant as a simple alert, not as a criticism of the Hungry Girl site. But you make me wonder if there are truly many who are 'forced' to be vegetarian ('aka not enjoying it!') here. Probably not, eh? So no prob. There might otoh be some who are offended at sites or whatever which promote or condone meat, but that's a whole 'n'other topic, I know, and not pertinent to this discussiion OK, all done now LOL Love, Pat
