Welcome Joe!

Your eating habits sound great. I look forward to learning and hearing more

about raw food and your dietary style!

Hi All!

* where you live: Calgary, AB, Canada

* your age group: late 20's (29) :)

* Are you are vegetarian (or vegan), still working at

it, or still thinking about it? How long?

I am actually a raw food-ist. I study and follow the

principles of Natural Hygiene. This means the correct

consumption of fruit (always ONLY on an empty stomach,

preferably the morning since one should only eat fruit

or nothing at all before noon - this allows completion

of the nightly elimination phase of the circadian

rhythm) and also the proper combining of starches with

veggies OR protein with veggies, to allow the food to

properly digest for maximum health benefit. I can

tell you all about it if you like! You can eat as

much as you want of healthy wholesome food and lose

all the weight you want without exercising, though

exercise will help get that extra 20% and help protect

against cancer etc by stimulating lymphatic flow.

* Are you the only veggie or wannabe in your

household? How many others?

My girlfriend and I are both into it, though I am

better at not cheating :) She has cravings for

candies and bad food all the time! My bane is this

one Indian restaurant here in town...so good! Trying

to get my siblings and parents into it, but the older

they are the harder it is to get them to change :( If

they think KD is a good source of protein, then KD is

a good source of protein and that's that. Ugh!

* Do you do the cooking or is it shared?

The small amount of cooked food I consume I prepare

myself - sometimes my girlfriend cooks but my cooking

is better - we both agree on this! ;) She makes

better salads though, which is our staple.

* WAIT! Anything else you would like to tell us?

I also fast 2 or 3 times a year on only water for 7 to

14 days at a time. This has brought me immense health

and well being, both physically and emotionally. I no

longer worry about catching colds or flus or any other

common illness - been free of them over 2 years now!

If anyone wants to know more about Natural Hygiene and

the benefits of eating raw fruits and veggies, or

about fasting and elimination and cleansing, please

ask! :)

All the best,

Joe

Hi Pam,

The restaurant is Gloria of India, near 4th and 4th.

I've sampled almost all of them and this is still my

favorite after 3 years in Calgary.

Cheers!

Have you tried Chutney at Sun Life Plaza? We went there for Christmas

lunch last year. Our bookkeeper (from India) says that it is better

than Glory of India, but I haven't been to Glory of India so I can't

vouch for that.

The family and I go very occasionally to Anpurna Curry Pot, at 52nd

and Memorial SE. It is a little family-run place. But lots of

deep-friend no-nos there.

Our favourite treat is not Indian, but Chinese at Buddha's. Their

Ginger " Beef " is so yummy . . . We go there about twice a year; once

for our birthdays in June, and once during the Christmas/New Years

holiday.

Now I'm going to wreck your raw-food diet.

I am curious, did you choose the raw-food diet as a way to lose

weight? I'm assuming it would be pretty hard to get overweight on a

raw-food diet, but that may just be ignorance on my part. I expect

you could put on weight by eating a lot of nuts and crystallized cane

juice, but that it would be difficult . . . ?

How long have you been raw?
