Hi Tina and welcome to our group. I think that's wonderful that you're gong back

to being a vegetarian. Was it your choice growing up or did your parents

instill it in you? My friend's daughter is very strict about her vegetarianism.

She's 6 now and my friend was vegetarian when she had her (but isn't any more)

and it has stayed with her daughter. I hope my future children choose to

continue being vegetarian once they get to the age where they have that choice.

Again, welcome and make sure you check out our recipe files; we're bound to

have some easy dishes in there! :-)

VEGETARIAN SLIMMING QUESTIONNAIRE

Please tell us a little about yourself so we can know

you a bit better:

To get you started, why not tell us:

* your name or nickname is Tina

* where you live (continent, region or city, whatever) in Massachusetts

* your age group - teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s,

70s, 80s or more (congratulations!)? will be 40 in March

Also:

* Are you are vegetarian (or vegan), still working at

it, or still thinking about it? How long? I was brought up vegetarian. I

am trying to get back to all vegetarian, and hopefully to vegan. Quite a

few of my family members follow strict vegan diets.

* Are you the only veggie or wannabe in your

household? How many others? My husband enjoys 98% of the meals I cook. He

doesn't mind going vegetarian.

* Do you do the cooking or is it shared? I do most of the cooking. DH's

only meal is mac'n cheese from a box with vegan hot dogs and canned

vegetarian beans.

WAIT! Anything else you would like to tell us? This is your

Big Chance!!! I like quick, easy recipes. I like to cook but don't always

have time for all the preparation.

Hi Cindi,

Thank you for the welcome.

I've never stopped being mostly vegetarian. Over the years I've just

incorporated one or two meat dishes into our diet per week or less --

usually less.

Our goal is to try and become vegan. My mother is constantly

preaching that dairy is really bad for us. Which I know, because

anytime I eat a lot of it, my allergies and asthma are worse than normal.

It was not our choice as children to become vegetarian. My mother

chose that for us. She is convinced that eating meat causes cancer

and a whole host of other diseases. Plus, it was cheaper to feed

seven children a meatless diet.

I hope to find some easy recipes, that require little to no

preparation. I have a lot of recipes which I will share as time goes

on -- all are in a binder and need to be typed into the computer.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Hi Tina ~

I hope our kids (when we have them) stick with vegetarianism as they'll start

life out that way.

I hear ya on having lots of recipes that need to be uploaded to the computer!

I'm the same way.

VEGETARIAN SLIMMING QUESTIONNAIRE

__Please tell us a little about yourself so we can know you a bit better: To

get you started, why not tell us:* your name or nickname

My birth sisters and I refer to each other as " sissypoo " so I thought in honor

them and our combined weight loss struggles I'd chose " Sissy " as my online

nickname

__where you live (continent, region or city, whatever)

Arkansas

__your age group - teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s or more

(congratulations!)?

52

__Also: * Are you are vegetarian (or vegan), still working at it, or still

thinking about it? How long?

Still working at it, prefer vegan, this has been an on-again/off-again thing for

probably five or six years or so

__* Are you the only veggie or wannabe in your household? How many others?

My son and his wife (they live in Washington state) are trying lacto-ovo

vegetarian for health using a book called " The Great American De-Tox Diet, " but

as far as my immediate household, it's just me and Hubby -- he's strictly a

meat-and-potatos kinda guy but thankfully has a sense of humor :)

__* Do you do the cooking or is it shared? "

I do most of the cooking; it's something I really enjoy and unfortunately for my

weight I'm really good at it :) Hubby makes really great chili.

__WAIT! Anything else you would like to tell us? This is your Big Chance!!!

lol

__Thank you from all of us.

You're welcome, and thank YOU. Looking forward to meeting everyone here and

hopefully losing some weight -- I'm a first-time Grandmother and I want to be

healthy and fit and really have fun being a part of my granddaughter's life.

Thanks in advance for help and support.

Welcome, Sissy! How lovely that you have a new granddaughter -

>I'm a first-time Grandmother and I want to be healthy and fit and really have

fun being a

part of my granddaughter's life.

and how lucky she is to have a grandmother who cares enough! That's lovely - and

a great

impetus to keep on a good slimming and healthy-eating regime!

You say you are not yet veggie:

> Still working at it, prefer vegan, this has been an on-again/off-again thing

for probably

five or six years or so

Oh I know how that is! So do many of us. But when you finally do it, you will

feel better, I

promise you. We'll help with advice and recipes and moral support. Okay? :) Give

your dear

hubby a chance to make a veggie or vegan chili with beans and, if you like it,

fake meat

crumbles. I guarantee it's good! And many me*t-eaters can't even tell that the

'meat' is

fake! LOL

Take care. Chat later.
