I usually make a pasta, egg, mayo and tuna salad. I know it's not a veggie dish,

but my sister is allergic to tuna so we usually make her one without the tuna.

You can add peas and diced carrots if you want, but I don't because no one likes

them in there other than me.

Hi Jackie ~

Just a reminder, please don't post meat related recipes/ideas. While we

understand everyone here is not vegetarian, we are a vegetarian group and prefer

not to discuss meals with meat. That being said, your idea deos sounds

refreshing except I don't like mayo. :-D

Thanks,

Cindi, co-owner of group

Well, we aren't outside grilling (we live in a highrise, so . . . LOL) but

I have been using my crockpot a lot during the hotter days ;) What

a great invention!!! Oh, and lots of salads/raw food - and fruit eaten

out of hand for an even quicker/easier meal!

Hi Jackie -

I know it seems confusing and understand how you could have made

the assumption about vegetarianism. However, vegetarians do not

eat animals/'meat' of any kind (and fish counts as an animal, you see).

As for vegans, they are not, as you suggest, vegetarians who don't

eat fish but (for the sake of a quick definition) vegetarians who don't

eat eggs, dairy and honey. (Yes, I know there's more to it than that,

but for the purpose of the discussions on this group, that would seem

to cover most possibilities, eh? ;) )

Hope this helps! Thanks for writing in.

Yes! Us, too. Every meal starts off with salad and fresh fruit. We sometimes

have a baked potato (cooked in the microwave so that the oven doesn't heat the

kitchen) or a quick stir-fry.

Salads rock! :-)

I got the sweetest, juiciest peaches in our box on Monday. I've been enjoying

one every afternoon this week.

I don't know if anyone else does this . . .

We occasionally pick up salads from the deli - potato salad, pasta salad,

etc. But of course there is nearly as much mayo in them as there is

potato/pasta. I couldn't eat it like that even if I wasn't trying to lose

weight. What I do is put 1/4 to 1/3 of the salad in a bowl, then put the

rest in a colander and wash all the dressing off. Then mix them back

together again. There is enough dressing on the 1/4 portion for the entire

salad, and of course only 1/4 the fat. . .

You still get all of the flavour and convenience, but at a much lower

calorie count. I often put a bit of low-fat cheese and/or hard boiled egg

and/or veggie " ham " / " chicken " in to boost the protein and lower the glycemic

index as well.

That's a great idea Pam. Good thinking to lower the calories!
