L-carnitine

It came to my attention that vegetarians may be deficient in L-

carnitine (most sources are from red me*t). I am having a bit of

trouble finding more information about this deficiency, and if

vegetarians need to be particularly concerned. I wonder if any of you

can supply me with more information and/or links. Thanks.

Carnitine is not an " essential " amino acid. Your body can produce it using

lysine and methionine.

Some vegetarian sources are asparagus, nuts, seeds, peanut butter, rice,

orange juice.
