Guest guest
VEGETARIAN SLIMMING QUESTIONNAIRE Please tell us a little about yourself so we can know you a bit better: Hi My name is Rhoda & I'm 52 years young. I'm a preschool teacher & have taught school forever. I'm married & have two grown sons, one who lives at home & attends college. I have fibromyalgia & have had a lot of foot pain for the past 2 years. I dread the start of school because I'll be on my feet for hours. I have high blood pressure & need to lose weight. I saw one of the Skinny Bitch authors on Entertainment Tonight & the 'liquid Satan' got my attention. Since I drink too many Diet Dr. Peppers it really got me thinking about needed changes. Plus I have two big events next year, a family wedding & a 35 class reunion. I would really love to look fabulous for both of them! I'm really thinking that cutting meat out would not be enough. I think that I would need to give up dairy too in order to achieve success. I've ordered Vegan Lunchbox, Simple Treats & Vegan Cupcake. I won two Moosehead cookbook auctions & should get them soon too. Can't wait for the cookbooks to arrive. Oh yeah...I live in Arkansas & it's over 100' here! Thanks, Rhoda > To get you started, why not tell us . . . [previous message snipped by moderator]
Guest guest
Welcome, Rhoda > I have high blood pressure & need to lose weight. Well, you've come to the right place because most people here are trying to lose weight or, at least, to maintain the weight they have now achieved (I mean, how many people _never_ have to consider it!) > I saw one of the > Skinny > Bitch authors on Entertainment Tonight . . . it really got me > thinking > about needed changes. I've read the book We don't ascribe to any particular weight-loss plan here, except of course this is a low-fat group (perhaps a tad lower than would suit the authors), but they _do_ indeed make a lot of sense on many things! And good for you for deciding to make the change - you won't be sorry!!! Have a look at the files you received on joining the group, which should help you to know what kind of things are good (and not so good) for you to eat. If you do decide to avoid dairy, there are lots of good recipes in our Files section (link on our homepage) - or ask for help! Good luck - and write in again often. Guest guest
Hi Rhoda and welcome to our group! Yes, cutting out soda helps so much! Vegan Lunchbox is a great book, don't have it, but I always check out her blog. I know you'll get great ideas in there. I have a few of the Moosewood cookbooks myself and reference them often. Sounds like you're off in the right direction!
