Guest guest
Hi, I make my beans from scratch all the time. Sometimes, I notice that the inside of the bean is almost dry, and tasteless. Does anyone know what that means? I made Roman beans today, and I would have thrown it all out, except it is part of tonight's dinner. Thanks, Diane UPstate NY
Guest guest
Probably too old. How long did you soak them? Guest guest
Yesterday, I used a quick pre-soak method. Boil for two minutes. Remove from heat. And then, cover and soak for more than an hour. I've had the same experience with beans that I've pre-soaked overnight. I thought old beans were always wrinkled. These looked good, but tasted terrible.
Guest guest
I've never had much luck with quick pre-soak. Sometime you can revive old beans by soaking a day or two, changing the water a few times, but not always. If you can sprout them, they are okay. If they won't sprout, they are too old.
