Guest guest
Hi all, My name is Dave and I live in Tehachapi, CA. I am 38 years old and I am coming back to my vegan diet (I fell off the wagon a few years ago and then ballooned up in weight). I just completed the " transition " last week. My 10 year old daughter is a vegetarian (I'm having to work on my 9 year old son and use a lot of substitutes like veggie corndogs) and my wife is a wannabe (she eats vegan at our dinners and for breakfast). My wife and I share the dinner cooking duties. We tend to prefer the Quick and Easy (simple) recipes and have been using cookbooks by Debra Wasserman, Dr. Terry Shintani, and McDougall. I tend to pack my own lunches for work as well. Thanks! Dave

Guest guest
Hi Dave, It's nice to have you here OK - this is BIG - CONGRATULATIONS on taking up the vegan challenge again - and you have already completed the transition so you're already there. This is especially true since you were vegan before and know what it's all about. Good for you!!! Sad about the weight - it happens, right? But you can now choose a *good* vegan weightloss regimen to get rid of it. There are lots of good diets out there - such as Barnard, Esselstyne, Fuhrman, McDougall, and others, including some you mention - so there should be no trouble. If you're not sure which way you want to go, make sure it's low-fat (seriously - it helps a whole bunch) and uses whole grains (and avoids refined foods) and then stick to it. You'll be fine, since you have determination. McDougall's recipes are good and they're easy, as you say. Good luck to you all there - and let us know how you're going! I bet you are feeling much better now aren't you? :-) Good luck with converting your son and wife! At least you've got one other veg in the family so far.
