Guest guest
> Melissa Nickname: Spookshow Baby Well welcome, Melissa! > I'm 25 (a quarter of a century...*gulp*) I know, I know, it sounds incredibly young and naive, but don't worry, you'll attain a few extra years and feel just like a grown-up! (kidding, okay? - but 25 is young, dammit!) > Vegetarian for about 3 months. Since I've seen > PETA's Meet Your Meat That does it for a lot of people - I think more people should watch it. If it changes their ideas, fine. If it doesn't, then no harm done. Why do they resist????? > My fiance and I started eating vegetarian at > the same time. > Unfortunately, he's fallen off the wagon a bit > lately. Later I joked that turning 30 was a breeze for me because I had " the crisis " at 25. I remember thinking things like, " Lord Byron died at age 36. Shelley was 29 and Keats was 25 when he died! What have I done with my life? " (These days I'm more likely to think, " Raymond Chandler was 45 when his first novel was published. Sojourner Truth became an activist at age 54. Grandma Moses started painting in her seventies. What exciting things await me? " I even have a new favorite word: opsimath. Look it up *grin*) > > Vegetarian for about 3 months. They don't want to change and they suspect they will be faced with incredible cognitive dissonance if they watch Meet Your Meat (or something similar) and are moved to change . . . but don't want to change. But change is the only constant in the universe. Even astrophysics has figured that one out! (Welcome to the group, Melissa!! And congratulations for going veg!)
