Hi everyone! My name is Sarah and I turned vegetarion in August after

watching Fast Food Nation and reading Skinny Bitch and the Idiots guide

to being Vegetarian. I'm very sensitive to life forms and so had no

problems giving up meat once I made the connection that eating meat was

killing a living thing. Funny how it took 25 years to make that

connection!

Anyway, right now I am doing the Master Cleanse in order to flush out

toxins and start on a clean page. It's only Day 2 and I feel GREAT! I

am wondering if I should go completely Vegan, which for me would mean

giving up cheese and egg whites. Everything else i've already replaced.

What is everyone's take on Vegetarian verse Vegan? Is anyone else

seriously addicted to cheese and doesn't know what the world would be

like without it? Also, I need to find more proteins sources than eggs..

and I haven't ventured very far into the world of beans yet. I'm open

to any suggestions and I thank you all for your advice!

Sincerely,

Sarah

I LOVE beans! Take the plunge. I wish I could do vegan all the time. I have

many days that I am totally vegan, and other days where I consume dairy. It is

hard when you have a cheese craving, I know! LOL

Have you tried tofu? We use the crumbles in many dishes, but you will find that

beans are a great substitute as well. And, many veggies have protein in them.

The human body doesn't need as much protein as once thought. You may want to

check into it.

Best of luck.

Hi Sarah,

I too am in transition to a vegan diet. I think that the decision is

ultimately up to you. No one can tell you definatively what is best for you or

what you should or should not do. For me it was a no brainer to give up cheese

and eggs. That is at least after I learned that the cheese is produced from

milk that is gathered by forceably keeping the cows pregnant. The eggs were a

bit easier because although they are not fertilized yet the possiblity of life

is there until the egg has begun to go bad/ rot whatever it does when left alone

and not fertilized. I applaud you for doing the master cleaner diet, I have not

been able to get all the things necessary to do it myself and alas I have to

wait until we return to the states. That is just my humble opinion. Everyone

must make the decision to transition to a vegan diet or not on their own. There

are a lot of Middle eastern recipes that do not utilize dairy in any form that

are low in fat as well as tasty.

www.vegweb.com has a lot of recipes that you can try out and there are a lot of

other sites out there with vegan recipes as well. I hope this helps and

remember this is all only my opinion. I hope that this helps.

I used to love cheese before going vegan. Until I read John Robbins ³The

Food Revolution²:

http://www.foodrevolution.org/

Actually, learning how the cows are treated, and the amount of pus and drugs

in the milk supply, I dropped dairy just like that. Haven¹t gone back. I

must say, I used to think pizza without cheese would be completely blah.

And maybe the first time or two it did seem to be missing something. But

now I load it up with sauce, spices and heaps of veggies. Trust me, I don¹t

miss it.

At family gatherings where they order pizza and I have one without cheese,

they¹ve tried mine and admit it has so much more flavor. Cheese was like a

blanket that covered up the flavor of the other items. I really don¹t miss

it!

I do eat a lot of beans, but never tried lentils until I went vegan.

They¹re fantastic and so versatile! I often use them in recipes I used to

put ground beef in, like in pasta sauce, snobby joes (sloppy joes vegan

style) and shepherd¹s pie.
