Guest guest
I had a wonderful recipe for a salad with mandarin oranges, but when my computer crashed, I lost it. 8-( sue ---- akfral 08/01/06 21:25:53 salads One of my favorite salads is one my brother, who can't even tolerate lettuce due to digestional problems, makes. A green mix, thinly sliced purple onion, sunflower seed, mandarin oranges, dried cranberries, poppy seed dressing. Lightly tossed. I think there is 1 other thing but I can't remember it off the top of my head. AmyF

Guest guest
How about non-lettuce salads? I know, I'm taxing you guys! But we're doing a rotation diet, and I although we can have a green salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and green peppers on one day, that still leave three other rotation days that I am looking for other things to do. Coleslaw, bean salad/bean sprouts, or . . . ? Jicama, kolrabi, ??? Pam
Guest guest
I love broccoli slaw! Make it just like cole slaw, but use poppy-seed dressing instead. If you can't buy the premade where you are, it's broccoli stems and carrots cut matchstick-style, with a little red cabbage thrown in for color.... pdw <pdworkman Thursday, March 27, 2008 5:11:09 PM Re: Salads How about non-lettuce salads? Guest guest
I HATE tomatoes, so this is my fav. mixed field greens, sprinkled feta, shredded carrots, and a balsamic dressing. I eat it underneath a portobella mushroom cap topped with roasted red peppers and mozz. Soooooo yummy! cassie Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search. Guest guest
cucumbers, red onions, and italian dressing! Make one every week to munch on at work. Or, what about a salsa salad with black beans, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and maybe some corn on top of lettuce or with some blue corn chips (or homemade tortilla chips) cassie Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
dear alizah May be you will think my suggestion is not workable since i am suggesting from india, tropical country. The salads should be made as far as possible from the raw material from the market in the kitchen. Packed dressing are a thing to be avoided for the sake of good health Nature has given alternatives which should be used. We from India do not need viniger and use lemon and tamarind in the place. Surely you have an alternative sour stuff in Israel. Bottom line is, when you have decided to have a lifestyle change, first thing is to avoid beaten track tastes. New tastes will endure. you can get umpteen recipe books. Surely your grandma and her mother never used the off the shelf stuff So make dressings at home with the local stuff It is my suggestion for good health. Preservatives used by the companies from the yard to your kitchen are not very healthu stuff best wishes m.s.sastry alizah hochstead <alizahh wrote: My husband doesn't like lettuce and tomatoes so I amke spinach and strawberries with a few almonds..I dress it with Ken's Lite walnut Rasberry Vignerette or with Balsamic Vinegar...The dressing is not always available here as it comes from AMerica (I live in Israel)..I also make a salad with fennel sliced thin and clemintino sectioned.
