Weight loss help please!!!

Hi everyone-

I've been in this group for a few months and have been truly inspired. I'm a

vegetarian and love healthy food like good fruits and veggies. Problem is, I

have gained so much weight this year, all the stuff I lost last year by doing

the same thing I am doing now. I'm thinking of starting weight watchers. Is it

vegetarian friendly? Also, what are some " super foods " you can think of that are

good for this stuff. Any pointers will be appreciated!

Hi Eliana ~

 

Weight Watchers is most definitely vegetarian friendly. My partner & I did it

with great success, although I've gained some weight back but that's because I

stopped doing what I should be. :-)

Do you have portion control? That was a big difficulty for me. I like to eat

until I feel full, yet I was probably full 10 bites ago.

Another thing I found difficult was getting started on an exercise routine.

But, now that the weather is nice and light in the evenings, I ride my bike each

evening.

Other than that, stick to the fruits and veggies. Reducing carbs in the evening

may help, yet I am not sure. What about sugar content? If I have sweets in the

house, I seek out reasons to eat them: to get them out of the house, because my

day was good, because my day was bad, because I ran today, because I plan on

running tomorrow, etc...

Oh bad luck! Time to do something before it gets out of

hand, right! Good for you!!

Never tried Weight Watchers or any other group where you attend meetings

etc. I lost 45 pounds (a little over 20 kg) last year by following Neal

Barnard's _Turn Off

The Fat Genes_ (silly sounding title, but a sensible book imo). Around the last

10 lbs to

lose I tried John McDougall's plan (works fine) and also Joel Fuhrman's (works

even better)

- and I went back to the Fuhrman plan if ever I gain more than two or three

pounds back

and it _worked_ for me. Ymmv.

 

Otherwise, I was apt to stay on a vegan whole food diet - pretty much as Barnard

advocates - until recently, when I started going in the direction of Raw Food

bigtime.

That's a whole new adventure and one which is delighting me :) (I add this note

not

because I'm trying to convince you or anyone that they should do as I do, but as

a matter

of accuracy - I'm no longer strictly following the diets named above which I

used for

weight loss.)

Lots of beans and lentils and lots and lots and lots of greens (both raw and

cooked) plus

fresh fruit. They fill you up, give you lots of energy and make you feel like a

million

dollars. Other foods? Oh sure, as long as they are whole foods and don't include

added

salt, added sugar, added fat/oil - in other words, a healthy vegan diet.

 

Right now I'm looking at _The Thrive Diet_ by Brendan Brazier - it looks like a

winner.

Also, I read _Skinny Bitch_ some months ago and although I don't agree with a

couple of

things for myself, I think some people here think it works fine. Try googling

and also

seeing what your local library has in the way of any of these books :)

I recently read " Turn Off the Fat Genes " and a couple of other books

and determined to eat lots more fresh fruits and veggies. This

backfired on me to an extent, as I discovered that I have something of

a fructose intolerance! Who knew! Coincidentally, my dad has been

trying to figure out what food it is making him sick with migraines

for a number of years, and just figured out this week that it is

fructose. It is hereditary.

 

So, if you boost your intake of apples, pears, honey, tomatoes,

carrots, and other foods that have a high fructose content, and you

experience headaches/migraines, fainting, hypoglycemia, diarrhea, gas,

bloating, pain, inflammation, hypertension, etc.; well, you heard it

here. Look into fructose intolerance and switch to fruits, veggies,

and sweeteners with lower fructose levels!

Dear

 

If you are looking for a crash slimming regimen it is not going to

help.

 

You have to have a consistant food habits.

GENERAL

1. Eat fresh vegetables and herbs and leaves and not packed and

preserved.Like you use tomato instead of tomato guice. Use fresh

lime juice instead of lemon cardial or viniger.

2. Eat fresh fruit and not frozen.

3. Eat sprouts ( cerials sprouted by soking in water for a day and

then hanging them in a plain cloth bag. Or use a sprouts box

available in all dollar shops. Surely it will be available in NJ

 

4. Dont use excess butter or cottage or processed cheese for dinner.

5. Use plain yogurt without flavours and sugar.

6. Eat rice only once a day. (breakfast,lunch or dinner)

7. Eat fruit and drink water first and then start your food. YOu

feel strong and satiated fast. If you eat fruit or fruit salad at

the end of the dinner you will get acidic.

8. Eat fish (IT IS OPTIONAL IF YOU ARE NOT A VEGETARIAN (VEGAN))

9. Eat beans and dry fruits

For you

 

1. Raise early

2. take a glass 200ml. luke warm water and add one tea spoon of

honey pure and add 1/2 cut of lime (fresh). Drink the water in gulps.

3. Go for you morning work out and return and have a few sprouts.

4. Then your routine food.

5. Eat sprouts and veg. salads (fresh) with every meal that you eat

inluding the small snacks you munch.

6. Have a light exercise in the evening

7. Have dinner and sleep well

 

This will show you the desired effect.

You must have observed that I have not reduced your food but

increased it and assure you slimming

Does the warn water and sprouts help move food through your bowels?

I think I would lose more weight if I had regular bowel movements.

The Core plan seemed pretty veggie friendly. Although with the points your

basically just figuring 50cals=1pt. I am not sure about there prep'd foods.
