Welcome to the group, Angel. It's nice to have you here.

I am sorry to hear you have been so unwell - that's really miserable for you.

And it is so nice that you want to be a vegetarian! Certainly most of us believe

it is better for our health, better for the animals, and better for the

environment.

54 kg is not very heavy, so perhaps you are not joining us in order to get

support for losing weight? If you were my height (158.75 cm) at 54 kg your Body

Mass Index (BMI) would be 21.4, which is nice and slim :) If you were a couple

of inches or so shorter - say at 152.4 - your BMI would still only be 23.3 -

very nice and normal :) Or perhaps you are taller than I am?

But of course you don't have to lose weight just because you are a vegetarian!

(If it worked that way this group wouldn't exist, because it was formed for

vegetarians who had become overweight!) You can certainly enjoy the group, the

recipes and the healthy food chat without feeling you have to cut back on

calories :) So many people would envy you!

Anyway, do have a good time here and write in often to tell us how you are

doing! I'm looking forward to chatting with you!

Best, Pat (Group Co-Owner with Cindi)

hi pat!

Thanks for welcoming me. =)

Actually, I have joined your group because i'd prefer to loose some

weight with support from other vegetarians (more knowledgeable and

more experienced than I am). Another thing, my family cannot relate

with me so much regarding my shifting to vegetarianism so i need to

find people who I can relate with. I'm so glad I've found more than I

need in your group.

Anyway, at 152.4 cm (shorter than your height =)) my goal is to reach

47 kg. (my ideal body weight) so that would be around 7 kg from 54.

I've used the formula I took from a fitness book.

(height in cms-100)X 85 / 100 = ideal body weight --- for females

At 47kg. I would still have a normal BMI.

By the way, I've enjoyed browsing over the messages of other members

here. I would check here as often as I could before my hectic college

semester starts (I'm already a senior Biology major by the way).

I'm looking forward to chatting with you too.. Have a great day pat. =)

Hi Angel,

You say:

Sounds like a good goal - just be careful not to overdo it, promise? I worry

about people who have had eating disorders :( And yes your BMI would be well

within normal range. It's not easy to keep to healthy eating while you're busy

at college, so I'll be cheering you on!

Good luck and keep in touch, okay? Thanks for writing back!

Love and hugs, Pat

PROMISE... =) cross my heart. I'll bring the weight down carefully and

i would surely share my words on how I will do it. I'm still on the

verge of planning on how it will work. I dont want to fall off the

track again (and take another bout of estrogen pills..) I'll post my

plan as soon as I've polished it. You sound like my mom by the way.

Thanks again (for the " nth " time).

I sound like your Mom? I'm more like _her_ Mom, I would think! But so sorry LOL

I do come on rather strong sometimes - I just worry about people :(

Good luck with getting back on track! Thanks so much for the reassurance :)

Love and hugs, Pat
