Guest guest
Does anyone have any good tips on getting rid of tiny bugs on kale? I run into this every now & then with the kale I get from my CSA. I'm making this old favorite tomorrow and the kale I just got is mighty buggy. I'm gonna mix it with some collard greens this time. Thanks for any help! Guest guest
Well, I soak my organic greens in cold water after lightly spraying with that vegetable cleaner stuff (some folks don't like to use it, but . . . ) and then rinse thoroughly several times - and keep my fingers crossed. Problem is, how to do that without drowning the bugs in the sink or washing them down the drain to a similar fate. Others I know wash them gently into a bowl, running fingers along the leaves, etc., but this is tricky with curly kale. Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks Pat; I'll try soaking them. Yea, it's usually in the curly kale and the little suckers are all tucked in all the folds and curls! Makes prepping for dinner a much longer task than usual. :-) Cindi --- On Tue, 7/8/08, drpatsant <drpatsant wrote: drpatsant <drpatsant Re: Cleaning organic kale Tuesday, July 8, 2008, 6:34 AM Well, I soak my organic greens in cold water after lightly spraying with that vegetable cleaner stuff (some folks don't like to use it, but . . . ) and then rinse thoroughly several times - and keep my fingers crossed.
