Guest guest
This is something I made a few days ago. It's my recipe. I hope you like it. Orzo with Tahini and Olives Ingredients 2 cups tahini sauce, homemade or store bought 1/2 cup olive oil 1/4 - 1/3 cup lemon or lime juice 2 cups pitted olive (type--your favorite; I like plain black olives, but any kind you favor will work fine) 1/2 tb dill weed 1 tb minced garlic 1/2 cup white wine fresh ground black pepper to taste one box orzo 1/2 cup pitted olives, your favorite type, in addition to the other olives, sliced. Put the first 8 ingredients in a food processor or blender. Turn it into a chunky sauce. You can increase and decrease amounts as pleases your palette. This is how I made it. At the same time, cook a box of orzo for 5-7 minutes. Be sure to put some salt and olive oil in the water. Drain, but do not rinse the orzo. Mix the sauce into the orzo. If you want a thinner sauce, you can add olive juice (if you used canned olives) or additional white wine to control the thickness of the sauce. My kids like the sauce very thick. I prefer it thin. It's just a matter of taste. I hope you all enjoy my recipe. Guest guest
This looks like a wonderful recipe - and certainly one we'd want to have for visitors on special occasions Thanks so much!!! It is not of course a slimming recipe with all that oil, tahini, olives, etc. - far too much for low-cal and far far too much for low-fat. I have placed it in our OT (for Off-Topic) NON-slimming recipes folder. You are obviously a very creative cook - we'll look forward to more from you, okay? Btw, what does a squid's breath (as in your moniker 'squidbreth') smell like? I imagine the wonderful aroma of the sea, sea vegetables and the like. Or do I kid myself???? LOL An unforgettable identity anyway! Squids are such graceful creatures! Guest guest
LOL SquidBreath was the name of a cat character in a novel I once wrote. I took his moniker as my screen name, only back then, there was a limit to the # of digits in a screen name, so I dropped the " a, " making my screen name, SquidBreth. And sorry... I forgot about the " slimming " part of the group. I was so pleased with myself for coming up with a vegetarian recipe that actually worked that I just couldn't wait to share it! LOL Hope you like it anyway... Guest guest
Hi - love the name And I shoulda known there was a great story behind it And not to worry about the recipe - it's a great recipe and of course we have SAVED it!!!!!! It's just that I had to say that it wasn't actually to be recommended for losing weight, eh???? LOL But what a great idea for other people in the family or for when one is giving a dinner - or even taking something to someone else's dinner? Looking good!
