Guest guest
Clear DayI believe BD said If...you accidentally eat gluten, drink tonic water...it will help mitigate the symptoms...diarhhea, constipation or tummy cramps that usually occur. I do not have gluten sensitivities, that I am aware of. I am allergic to almost all foods, especially proteins, and have nutritional deficiencies as a result. I am interested in more information about this, and wondering if it would help with IBS, since the symptons sound the same. You can write me privately. Hi Becky I am not an expert on IBS, by any means, but tonic water is often soothing to many GI complaints. How do you fair with new things? If you haven't had something before does it have potential to cause you great pain? If not, it would certainly be worth a try. That said, I wanted to ask you couple of questions. Have you considered the specific carbohydrate diet? There is lots that wouldn't work for you, being vegan, but you could probably modify it to be both vegan and SCD. It would leave you a little limited in what you could eat, but many people with IBS do see to fair well with the SCD. Next, have you tried using slippery elm? It isn't specifically for IBS but it is really useful for other tummy complaints like leaky gut and CD so it also might be worth a try. And finally, do you use aspartame or splenda. Many people with IBS find that their symptoms are alleviated when they stop using artificial sweetners like those two. Aspartame is really bad for IBS - but perhaps you already know that. Our favourite tonic water is Schweppes because it is a little sweeter, but if you have trouble with poly-saccharides you might prefer to try Canada Dry or a US brand that isn't so sweet.
