This is a picture slide show tribute to the canines who were involved

in the search and rescue investigations as a result of the 9/11

disasters.

One dog has now died of what is believed to be an illness that

resulted from this work and the University of Pennsylvania is

monitoring the dogs in a 3-year study to determine the damage that

resulted to these selfless babies. Some of them are already showing

extensive lung and respiratory damage.

As I said, I found the tribute very moving, living with a group of

dogs in addition to my cats, I can see so much in the faces of these

animals and just wanted to share it with you. And people say animals

can't express emotion - these faces say so very much and so many

different things!!! How can anyone say animals don't communicate.

I wonder how much asbestos was spewed into the air and what the

effects of that will be!

Strangely enough that was my first thought when I came home from work that

day and saw the films on the telly - the effects will be felt for decades

unfortunately.
