Guest guest
My wife states that our food costs dropped considerably when we shifted to vegetables and fruit only. Meat is expensive. We buy most of our veggies in a co-op or a farmers market when it is open. In summer we raise some stuff. Our apple trees are right now producing rapidly. The Winter squashes growing in the rose garden are now ready to harvest. In winter we grow some stuff in pots in our windows, herbs mainly. The super market has a rather large organic produce section. We have carrot juice most mornings for breakfast. Veggie eating is lots cheaper. Guest guest
I think it depends how you eat. If you have time to cook everything from scratch, shop at the farmer's market, and not buy organics, then yes, it's probably cheaper. Most of us don't have time to do that. Also, many vegetarians rely on semi-prepared foods to get their protein. These foods aren't cheap. - Priscilla --- TUNA BELLA <padrecarlitos wrote: > > My wife states that our food costs dropped > considerably when we shifted to > vegetables and fruit only. Guest guest
Sounds like you and your wife have a great system for living on an inexpensive healthy diet. That is great, PadreC. Next year i am definately going to put in some raised beds for my garden. i just moved this year to a new house, so i didn't get to it with all the other stuff we had to do. We do have many more wild animals living around us, so gardening here might be an interesting challenge. Do you have any good advice in regards to deer, rabbits, and moles? *lol* ~ pt ~ A man is not old until his regrets take the place of dreams. ~ Yiddish proverb ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " TUNA BELLA " < padrecarlitos@o...> wrote: > > My wife states that our food costs dropped considerably when we shifted to > vegetables and fruit only. Guest guest
Thank you for the narration of the experience. I wish to conratulate you for the details you have given about your experience based advise. It is not the advise but it is the to follow who love the life. Meat means killing some living animals while vegetables are non violence. I shall be interested in sending few greeting cards ( art Post cards) to you for your use If get your address. I am Indian and vegetarian since generations. I love to work with hands prefer hand made things. In India Khadi-is hand woven, block printed cloth. White and dyed. Verity of spices are also used. Now ready to use spices are available for vegetables. Once again I am grateful for your simple details of adopting vegetarianism. It is not only cheaper but also make a person healthier and creater.
