Guest guest
i live in southern Oregon, and i have seen it for sale in the Fred Meyer grocery store here in our small town. i think i have seen it for sale in a store called Market of Choice [they used to be a PriceChopper, but went locally owned and managed so now they carry a lot more healthfood type items]. If you don't have those stores then check for it in the freezer case of your grocery store where they stock the MorningStar Farms and Boca products. Guest guest
I find both Quorn and ToFurkey at Wild Oats which, I believe, is a national chain. I have also made ToFurkey from scratch, which was a lot of fun - Seriously. I enjoy cooking and it was a nice project which I'm sure I'll repeat. ken
Guest guest
I would really love to see that recipe. I just can't figure out how they mix the wheat gluten, SPI, and tofu into one cohesive yummy whole. --- Ken Ramey <kenramey wrote: > I find both Quorn and ToFurkey at Wild Oats which, I > believe, is a > national chain. Guest guest
I will dig out the recipe over the weekend. Tofurkey, however, is primarily tofu and spices, with a few other things for body and texture. There isn't any gluten in it - at least the homemade version. I fixed it last Thanksgiving, when I had a mixture of vegetarians and non-vegetarians over for dinner. For the carnivores, I actually fixed a " real " turkey (won't do THAT again!) and I fixed the Tofurkey for the rest of us. Surprisingly, some of the carnivores decided to try the Tofurkey and really liked it. One even took some home. I also had homemade mashed potatos, fresh mushroom gravy, and stuffing to go along with all of it. If I do say so myself, it was quite a success. :-) Of course, my father - a huntin', fishin', meat-eatin' country boy - said things like, " That's just not natural " and " That boy never was right. " All in fun of course... I think... ken reptile grrl wrote: > I would really love to see that recipe.
