Guest guest
I have to go to Atlanta next week, and just found out that they haven’t made dinner plans for Sunday evening. So, my co-worker in the Atlanta office is going to take me out to dinner, wherever I’d like to go. Does anyone have any suggestions for veggie friendly restaurants in Hotlanta? _____ -- Sherri " You know why God is a man? Because if God was a woman she would have made sperm taste like chocolate. Guest guest
Hi Sherri, I'm an Atlanta native (and currently in town), so I think I can help you out. If you want to go to the best vegetarian place in town, The Sunflower Cafe (there is one on Peachtree Rd. and one on Roswell Rd.) is great. Even meat eaters love it there. As far as veggie-friendly, Cheesecake Factory (American) on Peacthree, Maggiano's (Italian) on Peachtree Rd. (and also on Ashford Dunwoody Rd.), and Cafe Tu Tu Tango (eclectic food and a very cool and artsy atmosphere!-on Pharr Road off of Peachtree Rd. I think) are all great. R. Thomas on Peachtree (near Piedmont Hospital) is very casual but has lots of great veggie dishes. It would be a good place for lunch. For Japanese, Kobe Steakhouse (despite the name!) on Roswell Road has a great vegetarian option that will stuff you to the brim. Benihana is almost as good, and it is on Peachtree Rd. Mellow Mushrooom is the best place for pizza and Greek salad, and they have many locations, including one on Peachtree Rd., right near R. Thomas. I could keep going; let me know if you need any more suggestions! There are, of course, tons of other restaurants, but the ones I recommended are all ones I have actually visited several times and love! Thanks for all the suggestions! I see that several of them are on/near Peachtree Rd. Does that happen to be anywhere near the Westin Peachtree Plaza, which is where we're staying? Convenient would be good. Also, do you have any suggestiong for Indian or Thai restaurants? I have to live through Fogo de Chao on Tuesday evening (vegetarian HELL, I'm assuming), so I'd really like to find some place wonderful for Sunday. -- Sherri Bruises and welts, rubber and pelts, candlewax melts, all leather belts, And Things That Go Bump in the Night. Guest guest
highly second Cafe Sunflower. It is absolutely amazing. If forced to choose just 1 restaurant in Atlanta, this would be it. There are also a couple different Ethiopian restaurants in Atlanta that offer tasty/unique meals and a good variety for vegetarian diners. Oh yea, R. Thomas is pretty good too. It's open all the time, so it's perfect for post-clubbing 3 AM munching. > The Sunflower Cafe (there is one on Peachtree Rd. and one on Roswell R. Guest guest
I've never been to a Thai restaurant. There is a vegetarian Indian place called Udipi cafe on Lawrenceville Highway. A bit of a drive from where you're staying, but if it's what you're looking for it might be good. (I've never been there, but it has been there awhile- also has a 9.3 rating on citysearch) Another place that is right near there is Cafe Istanbul. It is also on Lawrenceville Highway, and they have wonderful pizza, and a mezze plate that has the best hummus, baba ganoush, and tzaziki. It has tabouli too, but I don't care for tabouli. It has a great atmosphere, and also yummy baklava. Most the restaurants I mentioned last time are on Peachtree Road, so they are not far at all from the Westin. Good luck! Hope you have great weekend here!
