Guest guest
Hello, I (think I) joined this group last week. I've have tried twice to send the asked-for introduction. Not only did neither post, neither showed up in my sent mail. So... Here I go again! I am vegetarinan. Since 1969, but feeling it before I was able to do it! My family was not supportive. When I was a teenager, or younger, food choices were what my mother put on the table, or the lady in the hair-net at lunch laddled onto the tray or put into a bun. I told my mother I wanted to be vegetarian. She insisted vegetarians eat chicken and dish. Once, she bought me a can of fake meat... and served it to me in front of her friends. It was disgusting! But it was her " party, " so I had to eat it. People STILL don't " get " that being vegetarian means eating other than flesh, not flesh substitutes! I remember in a restaurant, as a child, ordering spare ribs, thinking that the animal hadn't needed them... they were " spare. " Then, in the spring of 1969, at restaurant called Ratso's, in a trendy area in Chicago, I was impressed with their salad selections. I said, out-loud, but really to and for myself, " I could live on these, " and became vegetarian! Anyone else out there remember a movie, circa 1968, called Sweet November? A supporting character was vegetarian. To include him in their Thanksgiving dinner, the hostess made him a turkey-mold jello. I was inspired by the sentiment, even though there was so much we didn't know... ground animal hoofs, and all. I am a fan of nature, enjoying camping, pic-nicing, and photographing out in it. I love my furry, feathered and scaled family! I love animals around my table, not on it! Jiraph ===== " The cat did not respond. She did not believe in paraphrasing anybody. If people pursued this same feline wisdom, there'd be a lot fewer misunderstandings. " From Kinky Friedman's Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch Meet the all-new My - Try it today! Hi all Jiraph is obviously not receiving the group emails, so rather than respond here, I've posted Jiraph on off-list message and explained that his messages are coming through, and that he might be set on " No Mail " . I've explained that he can contact the moderators if still having problems. Hope this is okay, wasn't trying to speak on behalf of the moderators or anything, just explaining things as another Groups user. Guest guest
I'm the only one I've ever met! It was a " nick name " most of my life, until in 1982, when I changed it legally. Had to go to court and everything. You see, I collect giraffes beyond obsession! In fact, the first group I joined was a giraffe lovers group. :^) I met someone once who said I should explain it is Biblical. After all, there were giraffes on noah's ark.
