Guest guest
Shalom friend, You asked if I am a sabra. No, I am not. I am a multi-national My mother came from Austria (her parents from Hungary and Tsechia); my father came from Memel which is in Lituania. His parents came from Russia. And I was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. My husband, though, is a sabra, born in Haifa. (His dad came from Germany, his mom from Poland). When he was two, they moved to Kiryat Haim, then a socialist place to the north of Haifa. We live in the house where he grew up. Our children are sabra's too (24, 22, 21). Not to boast, but I immediately asked myself whether you are connected to giraffes... My own name, Dorith, originally comes from Dorothea which means " present from God " . That is how my parents considered me, but I am not sure they were right..... Wishing you all a very pleasant day ~ Dorith [sabra=person born in Israel, named after the prickly cactus]
Guest guest
Dorith, Boker tov! Sounds like your family and your husband's fled Europe! My family came to the US a generation or two before, in the 1800s, from still Tzarist Russia. Riga, Latvia, to be exact. My Hebrew name is " Bracha. " They didn't treat me much like they thought so, though! :^( Alas, I can't type here b'Evreet, but somewhere I have a silver necklace with Z-M-R (only right-to-left). It's a " giraffe " thing. :^) Jiraph ===== Shalom friend, You asked if I am a sabra. No, I am not. Guest guest
> I'm a woman! Thanks - it was itching in my brain.... Don't know why Jiraph really stuck as male. My picture of you is becoming more clear. (Or less cloudy as the case may be.)
Guest guest
My name change " David Star " isnt as interesting as " Jiraph " but was a result of my spirit quest in '86 when i set up camp above Yosemite [northern Cali]. It was beautiful caring for a retired nature camp surrounded by old growth trees... I thought of David " dancing naked before God " when i found joy beneath those massive trees and was known as David from that day on. I learned that earth stewardship is a high calling for a species that has the intellect to protect or distroy the natural surroundings and never forget this. A name change can bring empowerment as it has for me... Btw, my sister's name is " Dorothy " [small gift of God] and she has been a support to me over the years. I am looking forward to visiting her in Bellingham Wa next weekend! :] David* Dorith <yourfrienddc> wrote: I was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. > My own name, Dorith, originally comes from Dorothea which means " present from God " .
