I was offline for quite some time and found that it was hard to

keep up with groups from the library and during my summer in

Yellowstone Park [Yogi doesnt have a computer]. This group has

been consistantly interesting and am glad to be a part even

though i dont post much.

I became vegan in Fredericksburg VA in '84 when i hired a

macrobiotic nanny to help with my little ones after their mother

left us. Son james was 6 when he said he would not eat

anything with a face and it was a challenge to me since i

promised to respect their wishes. His mother had his puppy put

to sleep because he didnt pick up some poop in the yard and

months later we had a cry over " Charlolettes Web " cartoon when

they were dragging the pig off.

I am currently in Oregon and hail from San Francisco... my

eldest son [27] lives with his vegetarian gf in SCali and the two

others are in LA like u [one is studying to be a music producter

and the youngest is an actor. All of us are vegetarians and stay in

great health. David* http://profiles./starcollage

I am pretty new to this board, but thought it sounded very interesting.

My husband and I were Vegan for 4 years before slipping with some

dairy for several months, fish here and there. I am rededicating to

Veganism. We just moved 3 months ago from San Diego, CA to North

Carolina. Challenging finding healthy choices, but there IS a Whole

Foods about 35 minutes away. My kids are not strictly vegetarian, but

I wish they were.

i live in Minneapolis- it's pretty easy to find veggie friendly restaurants

and meat alternatives here. i know a lot of people think of minneapolis as

just another cornfield but --surprise, it's a fabulous place to be a

vegetarian! . i am a lacto-ovo vegetarian but am slowly making my way to a

more vegan diet. not sure if i'll ever make it 100% but i'm going to try.

i don't eat eggs that often and when i do, i stick to cage free. i've

recently discovered the goodness of almond milk. that was huge for getting

off dairy. soy milk has a weird aftertaste and rice milk is watery and

sweet. almond milk is just about perfect for my taste. anyone else like

it?

anyway-- i just joined this group and have really enjoyed what i've read so

far.

thanks!!

Hey! We lived in Minneapolis (well, St. Louis Park) for several

years right after we were married. I thought for sure we'd struggle

with stores and restaruants...but was so pleased with all the

choices. Is the Wedge still there?? I loved a little family owned

Indian restaraunt that I know has closed...I lived on their birbal

when I was pregnant. Anyway - I've such fond memories of

Minneapolis, would move back if the opportunity arose!

I enjoy vanilla rice milk on my cereal but the almond milk i tryed

was too sweet to me so guess it's just a matter of the brand and

one's presonal taste buds.

You might try hazelnut milk instead. Heated, it also makes a nice

beverage or may be added to coffee.

Hi there - nice to see so many new members here!

To answer the question: My dh and I are long-time

vegetarians (now lacto-vegetarian), living in

Montreal, Canada, with our veggie hounds and our

eccentric cat. I am an ethical vegetarian but

appreciate the tremendous health benefits.

Best,

Pat ;=)

I am in Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia and I'm a

lacto-ovo vegetarian. I try to avoid foods with slaughtered animal

by-products but sometimes can't go past a big fat milkshake that I

know they make with ice cream added to the milk.

Haven't touched a piece of meat for 9 or 10 years, and never will.

I travel to the Wholefoods in Winston also. It's about 30 to 40 minutes away.

Charlotte is about an hour and half away depending where at in Charlotte.

You know, I recently realized, with all of the new members showing up, that I

have almost never said anything here. Anyway, I read faithfully, and maybe one

day, I'll have something worthwhile to say.

I'm living in Ohio. I'm vegan. Ethical. Woo.
