There is an actual curry plant - you will need to visit an Indian Grocer

to find them.

What are curry leaves? I have been lead to believe that " curry "

is a

mix of spices; hence, the red, green, & yellow curries.

usually, curry leaves are the first thing put in oil as a seasoning

along with mustard, cumin etc before adding onions or other

veggies... they add great flavor and aroma.

In South India, there is seldom a home without a curry-leaf plant in

their backyard.these leaves have a very good medicinal value too.

curry doesn't equal adding curry powder to anything... each curry

has its own blend of spices that should be used...anyone serious abt

making indian food should never use store bought curry powder :)

it is a whole another world, really:)

I get my curry powder from an indian grocery store.

I make rice, add nuts (raw cashews mostly) raisins, spring onion

chopped to the size of the raisins, curry powder and honey blend,

serve & eat.

I agree with you on the curry powders Mounika - I make my own masalas

every time:) My mother, however used to buy green curry powders at the

local Asian stores, and those were definitely Chinese curries - a far

cry from a good Indian masala:)
