I eat this at her home and ask her for the recipe - she emailed me

this:

All of my measurements are according to my own taste...nothing

specific...soplease use the amount that seems right to you. :-)

1. Wash and boil Musur ( Moosoor or Moosoori )dal, at least about a

cup...more if desired, with fresh green chilles. Keep it aside.

2. Keep a packet of mixed frozen vegetables ready ( or fresh

veggies ) of your choice is fine too...that is pour it out on a bowl

and keep it aside...use amount as desired. You can also use only

green beans too or choose not to add any vegetables at all.

3. Dice ripe, fresh mangoes and keep it aside.

4. Keep salt and sugar ready as well as some resh coriander or

cilantro chopped and ready.

5. Heat oil in a deep pan . When it is warmed up, put in 2 or 3

dried red chilles, bayleaf. Saute till nice and brown. Add in cumin

seeds. Saute till lightly brown and then immediately add in the

mangoes and then the vegetables. Saute nicely and cover it till it

is nicely cooked but not over-cooked. :-)

6. Pour in the boiled dal, add salt and sugar...taste it to see if

it is well balanced. Let it simmer for a while and keep stirring in

between. When you feel it is done, garnish it with fresh coriander

or cilantro and turn off the heat. Let it stay for a minute or two

till your burner has kind of cooled down. Keep stirring

occassionally.

7. Now, pour it in a nice bowl and enjoy it with hot rice...white or

brown as desired! :-)
