I found some at Bristol Farms in the imported cheese area last week. It's in

the same red wrapper. .... Donna from Calif.

Gejtost? It is wonderful!!! You reminded me how

long it is has been since I've purchased it - going to have to get some

tonight! It is sold by the square in a red wrapper here in the US with

Gejtost label on it. At least, that's the only way I've seen it!

Re: Re: Hi Susie

Yes Susie, goats milk is fine but I don't really care for feta cheese or the

French cheese.

There is one Scandinavian cheese that tastes like caramel that I use on

crackers during the holidays. The name escapes my memory right now.

Anyone know if I might find it at Wholefoods?

I like to have things like this for the holidays.

Thanks!

This is a Scandinavian cheese (named Gejtost) that 's made from goat's milk. It

has a sweet caramel flavor and I use it during the holiday season. I find it

this time of the year at Bristol Farms. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's don't

carry it....Donna Calif

would.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Hi Robin!

I think I gave the wrong impression of the cheese. It does not taste

like caramel, but when it is unwrapped, it looks like a huge caramel!

It is very sweet, creamy cheese and I'm 95% sure that Whole Foods

would carry it. It is called Gjetost. If you ask at the cheese

counter, they will know what you are talking about. As mentioned

before, it pairs wonderfully with tart apples. I also like it with

salty crackers since the sweetness is so different. I hope you enjoy

it!

Oops! Guess I am wrong about Whole Foods, though perhaps different

Whole Foods stock differnet items? Seems strange that my local

Ralph's would carry it, but not Whole Foods. Who knows!! If you ask

around, I'm sure you'll find it. Raley's in this area also carries

it, and Cala Bell, and Nob Hill. I don't know what you have as far as

shopping in your area.

A few years back Ralph's did carry it but not anymore. I haven't seen it at

Ikea either.

makes almond cake it tastes like cherry to me...LOL Think I have mixed up taste

buds.
