Guest guest
Was she the one paired up with the ZZ Top-looking Harley guy who had the messy front lawn? I thought she was GREAT! She was so open-minded—she bartended at a biker's bar in leather chaps, she rode on the Harley, she never got bent out of shape like her own husband did with the other family....I thought she was very classy, and open-minded. Guest guest
Funny you brought that up...I watched a spouse switch show last night, the hubbies switched. One was a biker & kind of a slob, but ever so sweet, the other lived in sort of a commune, was very earth consious and aware. They discussed that the commune guy didn't let his kids eat candy, but I don't believe they were vegetarian. ANYWAY - leaning more to the earth centered lifestyle myself, it made me wonder if I could ever do something like that...especially given our veggie diet & we are aware of things like serving utensils that may have been in meat, etc. I know my husband would never be able to eat any sort of meat no matter what - I'm not so strict as he, but I wouldn't eat meat to prove a point, I'd have to want to eat it & can't imagine that, especially alligator!! m

Oh my god, Barbara was SUCH a snot. Sadly, she embodied every ugly vegan stereotype there is. She was rude, disrespectful, pushy, and pushed " weird food " as much as possible (Why not cook a nice, familiar vegan spaghetti dinner with all the delicious fixings instead of making them drink green smoothies or whatever and pushing fake meat on them? Pasta, garlic bread, salad, green beans...mmm!) She also hit the dog repeatedly while shoving the animal's head down trying to rub her face in the urine...a stupid, useless way to try to train a dog. She was mean to the family's kid and had no tact or people skills at all. If she'd backed off and tried to be nice, she would have been far more likely to encourage people to try veggie living, or at least reduce the killing, but instead she gave america an excuse to believe that we are all nasty, anti-social, vegan police. >If u were in Barbara's situation would u eat meat to prove a point to >someone? Nope. They didn't care if she did or didn't and what does it prove? I also was annoyed with her " it's not a mammal, it's a reptile so it's not as bad. " They're both sentient. No brain, no central nervous system, I understand (and providing animals weren't tortured to get that non-sentient food to the table.) " But that makes good TV - Did you watch the show? Then the TV people achieved the ends they were after. Are you still talking about it? Then the TV people achieved the ends they were after. This all part of the TV game. Also remember that Barbara CHOSE to be on the TV show. Amy
Guest guest
My wife and I also agree with these posts. That person was not a true veggie based on the ones that I have met in my life. I am writing the network and the producers of the show reflecting these issues. They want relality, huh, such for this reality. We thought we were the only ones who did not like what we saw, but this is the Jerry Springer of reality TV. I know some cajuns who did not like what they saw either regarding the other spouse, and his earing habits as it made all cajuns look like they will eat anything. That is not true either, they do not eat bugs......except mud bugs (crawfish). Guest guest
> > If u were in Barbara's situation would u eat meat to prove a point to someone? No, but then I wouldn't go on any reality show- I do not watch them but I hear about them and several people asked me about this show because the woman ate meat(like vegetarians don't get enough guff out here already). I do not see how eating a piece of meat proves that change is good or possible. If you wanted someone to stop smoking, would you smoke to prove something to them? What is the fascination people have with " reality " shows- which of course are not real- they are being recorded. It seems to me the real life we have is scary enough-if that is why people watch these things. People should be getting up, turning off the tube(oops- I guess it may be a plasma flatscreen now) and making their own real life. Sorry, but these TV " realities " cause me to rant Andrea
