Guest guest
For those of you who use canned beans - do you rinse them? I use them and almost always rinse. (I have never tried a recipe where they said not to rinse - so me did not outright say to rinse - I just did.)
Guest guest
It depends on the beans, and what dish I am preparing - but I do in some cases rinse them - especially black beans. I made a mango, corn, black bean salad with a lime vinaigrette and I always rinse & dry the black beans for that - BUT with chili, I don't even drain them... Guest guest
Nutritionally, minimal - but the thickness of the liquid comes from the starch of the beans - which helps to thicken the chili. I use arrowroot, flour, corn starch, or pototo starch; so I guess I am not missing anything. Good to know, becasue I just can't take the appearance. Food has to look good for me.... Guest guest
Amy - I usually rinse canned beans - they just look unappetizing to me in the goop from the can. If they are good organic beans I don't worry about being super thorough, just a quick rinse. m
