Guest guest
Yesterday afternoon I helped at a high school, good cause, fundraiser pizza-slice sale. They began to combine patrially sold pizzas into same boxes, mixing just cheese with cheese and sausage slices. I asked them not to mix, explaining that would prohibit vegetarians (I've met many veggie and vegan students, as well as kosher) from being able to participate. One of the teachers-in-charge snapped at me that, " NO ONE BUT YOU CARES ABOUT THAT, " and tossed sausage slices into the cheese pizza box. He also thinks I overreact to being so overly immersed by everything Christmas this time of year. " Christmas, " he says, " is seasonal, not a religous celebration. " Um... I may be innondated, that does not make it mine! What would be a good " Bah humbug " in Yiddish!? :^) Oi gevalt, Jiraph ===== " The cat did not respond. She did not believe in paraphrasing anybody. Guest guest
Why not just talk about vegetarian issues instead of the Christiian and Jew topic. Always ebds up offending people. We vegetarians have all experienced this with the pizza boxes and we are used to negative comments........... Guest guest
ignorance comes in all forms, religions, races etc. Not giving a crappola about anyone who would not want to eat the pieces mixed with sausage is a classic example of just how many many people are stoned cold ignorant jerks. I don't care about you and your agenda, I am the only person in this world and you can just go screw yourself for all I care. I think yesterday was a test of my patience for I ran into every person in the world like this, just about. From the lady who let the door slam in my face, to the many who leave a half of a car length in front and in back of them at my daughter's parking congested school, to the pizza slice lady, I probably bumped into her as well. It's not a vegetarian thing, it's a rude ignorance thing, and I wish people would wake up and realize there are other people and families in this world besides them. So sorry for the rant, but gosh it felt good, Blessings, Chanda - Jiraph Wirpel Saturday, December 11, 2004 7:55 AM Mixed Yesterday afternoon I helped at a high school, good cause, fundraiser pizza-slice sale. Guest guest
Yes, many people, individually, function like they are the onl one in the world who matters. Today, for example, I waited for a handicapped parking space (I have a permit, of course)... while some perfectly amblitory man had left kids in his running car while he went into a store to shop. But in my " Mixed " post, my point was ment to be that often people, by the privilage they feel by being a member of group a of like-believing / like-acting / like-looking (could be: carnivors... christians... a racial majority... those without physical disability... heterosexual... etc.) act like they have a right to expect others to, if not believe as they do, to just shut up and be invisible about their differences! ===== " The cat did not respond.
