Guest guest
Hi Melissa, It's Donna, I'm the one that made the baklava. Probably my message was meshed into someone elses. It's not too hard to make. I can send you the recipe. The phyllo dough is a little tricky to handle but the finished product is so worth the effort. Let me know. Now the rolled grape leaves I couldn't do on my own. I wrecked two jars of leaves trying and tossed those out and ended up eating the rice filling from the bowl..LOL melissa_hopp <hoppmel wrote: How hard is it to make baklava?? m
Guest guest
Donna - I have worked with filo dough before - the store bought kind - some days I have the time and patience. I'd love the baklava recipe! I think you can stuff cabbage leaves and they are more sturdy than the grape leaves...not quite the same effect though! Thanks, m

Guest guest
Melissa,,,,hahahaha You're absolutely right. The cabbage leaves are easy. Do you have a recipe for stuffing them that you use? I don't have a good one at all. I will post the baklava recipes later today. Enjoy Sunday, Donna melissa_hopp <hoppmel wrote: Donna - I have worked with filo dough before - the store bought kind - some days I have the time and patience. I'd love the baklava recipe! Enjoy >Sunday, Donna I'm not Melissa, but I do have a *fabulous* recipe for them. I got the recipe from a Romanian woman who says they make it for Christmas dinner since they rarely have meat or dairy and this is fabulous without it. Trust me, it's incredible. Romanian Stuffed Cabbage 3 onions, chopped 2 stalks celery, diced 1 carrot, diced salsa(1 jar) 1 lb chopped mushrooms 1/2 cup rice 1 cabbage salt pepper 1 tsp dill 2 tsp caraway seeds 2 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp basil a big can tomato juice Boil cabbage head till leaves are easy to remove. Cook rice. Fry other veggies in a little oil. Add spices and soy sauce. Cook 6-10 minutes. Add rice and most of the salsa. Cook 5 min. Roll in cabbage leaves. Place in a glass baking pan. Cover in tomato juice and remaining salsa. Bake (or microwave for our friend without an oven) till done. You could probably do the rest in a microwave too if you have to.
