Guest guest
Baklava 1 box phyllo dough thawed 6 oz. melted butter 1 cups ground pistachio nuts. Walnuts work well too. Syrup 1/2 cup honey 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and juice of one squeezed lemon Preheat the over to 350 degrees. 1. Combine and boil then reduce heat and cook over medium heat for 6-8 minutes. Cool and set aside. 2. Place a sheet of phyllo dough on a dry cutting board and very lightly brush with butter. 3. Place a second sheet of phyllo on top and brush with butter. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of ground pistachios over the buttered surface. 4. Roll the phyllo from the side lengthwise into a log. 5. Place the log on a buttered sheet pan or cookie sheet. 6. Repeat the process 7 more times. 7. Slice the logs on an angle about 1/4 to 1/2 inch deep. This process will portion the baklava into the desired pieces. Recommended pieces per log are about 6. 8. Bake 20-25 minutes or until a light golden brown and crispy. 9. Allow the baklava to cool and then drizzle the syrup over the top. Allow syrup to soak in, and serve. " A smile is a curve that sets all things straight. Guest guest
This baklava sounds good...have you made it?? Does it end up in little circles (like a sliced, rolled tortilla)? I can't picture it making the traditional diamond shape... I'm looking forward to trying it! Also, different post and recipe - I can't wait to try the curried red lentils - sounds really good - I was just thinking about trying something with coconut milk, and then this recipe popped up!! melissa (there are at least two of us)!!! Guest guest
Yes, they do end up on little rolled circles, just like the tortilla woll ups. This is the version the middle eastern man and his wife taught me to make. They sell them like this in there little deli. As I was being shown I had sticky hands and was writing the recipe at the same time..LOL Enjoy Donna melissa_hopp <hoppmel wrote: This baklava sounds good...have you made it??
