I have been craving sloppy joes for some time now and since it's my

35th today, I believe I will have them for dinner.

I'd like to use tvp and I already have tomato paste, what types of

seasonings should I use? I'll probably add sauted onions, garlic and

celery.

I'm also treating myself to a one hour massage with my monthly

chiropractic appt. Ahhhhh, too bad I can't get myself to a massage

therapist more often.

Happy Birthday Denise!

I use fake ground (such as Yves or Morningstar) for sloppy joes.

This version is my kids favorite, it is really simple -

I start by sauting a medium chopped onion till transluscent with

1 or 2 stalks chopped celery

a chopped pepper (green/red/yellow) - you may want to add the

pepper later if you want crunchy chunks

then add the equivalent to 1 lb of fake burger stuff (you may want

more/less burger depending on how sloppy/saucy you like 'em)

for the sauce:

1/3 to 1/2 cup ketchup (we prefer health food store kind, less salty)

1/4 cup water

1 or 2 Tbs veggie worcestershire sauce

dash of hot sauce

pinch of salt

Okay, here's my recipe:

1 c tvp

1 can diced tomatoes

1 can kidney beans, drained

lots of ketchup (about 1 c)

yellow mustard (2 heaping tbsp)

1 tsp chili powder

1 tsp-1tbsp dried onion to taste

Put it all in a pot and heat through. Serve on buns with pickles. YUM!
