Guest guest
One thing that I love about being vegetarian is all of the beans. I'm a bean fanatic. However, the one thing that I don't do often enough is to make my own beans. Well, I got a really nice, large crock pot for christmas and I'm ready to delve in. I'd like to make a batch of pintos this weekend, as we're always grabbing tortillas when we don't want to cook. What are some of your favorite beans? I'll be sure to check our recipe files as well. That is a great resource! When I graduated from college I was seriously thinking about going vegetarian. I picked up some info from the county and it was all about beans. Although I didn't take the path then, I did keep the bean information and have kept them in my diet. Here are two websites I found dedicated to the wonderful bean: http://www.beanslentils.com/ http://magicalfruit.org/# (this one has a great pop-up when you enter) Denise
Guest guest
I love makiing black beans and then I eat them on top of rice with chopped onion, tomoato, etc. I make Swedish brown beans (they are a light brown bean and white on the inside when cooked) and I add a little brown sugar and cinnamon while they cook, great northern white beans and I toss celery, carrots, onions, garlic and even a can of diced tomatoes and let them cook all day in the crockpot, flamingo pink beans are good too. Try this site www.barryfarm.com they sell all types of hard to find beans there....hope this helps a little bit. That is a great resource! > I look forward to checking out the sites... I love, love lentils. I use black beans lots, the kids like them. Also pinto beans. I find that " tougher " beans like kidney and garbonzo they tend to pick out or just not eat the meal at all. The pintos tend to be softer and easier for them to eat. I don't know why they like black beans, but they never complain about them?! m
