Hi Again Y'all,

Has anyone seen the cookbook by the monk who makes that excellent Seitan recipe

that

has mushrooms and stuff in it? I had this at Seva Restaurant in Ann Arbor years

ago and it

was delicious. I would love to make it. Can anyone help out?

Thanks,

JKA

Could it be Simply Heavenly? It's out of print, but really good!

Perhaps it's Ron Pickarski (a former Franciscan friar), author

of " Friendly Foods " and " Eco-Cuisine " ? The former was written when

he was still Brother Ron; the latter was published after he left the

order.

I have both of his books, but he has more than one recipe with

seitan and mushrooms. Do you remember more ingredients?

Take care,

Bobbi

Hi JKA. i have this recipe book called 'Simply

Heavenly' that is put out by some vegetarian

monks. There are quite a few seitan recipes in it.

They really do a lot of cooking with seitan and

gluten " meats " . The book is out of print now, but

i got a copy used on a website a while back and i

love it~ worth every dollar!

Maybe if you describe the recipe i can glance thru

my book and see if i can find a recipe that is similar.

i would definately be willing to type up the recipe

to share with you. Have a nice Monday! :)

Oh, I'm glad to hear about this. Maybe I should check my library. The dish was

sort of like

a seitan and mushroom stew served over rice or something, as I recall. If you

see anything

that looks like that, I'd love to see the recipe. My mouth is watering just

thinking about it.

I'm sorry, Jessica, i was mistaken.

The cookbook i mentioned didn't

have ANY seitan recipes in it.

These monks make and use gluten

unmeats, but they don't make it into seitan~

which i understand is a bit different. [?]

At any rate, i looked thru the cookbook to

see if i could find a recipe that sounded

similar to the ingredients you described

and i did not find any that fit. Sorry about that.

Perhaps another person here will find something l

ike it in one of their cookbooks.

Good luck and happy hunting! :)
