Guest guest
Hi all, This looks like a lively group and the posts I've read are great. Thanks to the moderator for the invite! I became a lacto/uovo/pesco vegetarian about 5 years ago and lived that way for 3 years. My husband reintroduce meat to the family two years ago (he was the one who began our fairly meatless lifestyle!) and I've regretted it ever since. I have therefore reintroduced meatless living and feel so much better for it. He still cooks meat, which is fine for him, but I keep it meatless for my kids and myself with a bit of fish every now and then. We do try to keep the dairy to minimum as well. I love to cook and enjoy recreating formerly carniverous meals with a meatless flair. I do use many frozen substitutes in my culinary inventions and love to try other substitutes as well (Trader Joe's soy cheese is faboo). I have found (for me anyway) that taking the meat out of the picture actually increased my meal planning options rather than decreasing them! I am looking forward to exchanging recipes and ideas with you all. Cheers, ~Lori, Seattle
Guest guest
Warm welcome, Lori. i am glad you chose to take us up on the invite. This is a very friendly group and we love to yap-yap-yap about good vegetarian food. *lol* i have also found infinite variety in vegetarian cooking as opposed to planning meals with " a meat, starch and veg " like many people still do. My plate is way more inventive and colorful, not to mention delicious! Do check our files section for all the tried and true recipes shared by the gang here; so many recipes, so little time. ~ pt ~ Speak clearly, if you speak at all; carve every word before you let it fall. ~ Oliver Wendell Holmes ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Whats in a name? Guest guest
Hi all & welcome Lori - I've been off for a week (daughter had eye surgery) and boy do I have lots of reading to do!! And it is confusing cuz my set up is different now, previous is next and viceversa...ack!! I don't deal well with change... Lori, I live just south of you, in a suburb of that lesser known city... Jiraph, don't know if you had the bday yet - if so hope it was fun. Go for the veggie menu. We have gatherings all the time, and always no meat & have never heard complaints (who knows what they say behind our backs) but usually people are delighted, intrigued, impressed or don't even realize the menu is meat free. We too, had a meat free wedding. We were in NJ at the time, and had it at a lovely fancy restaraunt - it was Italian & there was a marvelous spread, appetizers & main course (desert too of course) - no meat, many choices, no forewarning (though people new we were vegetarian) and not a single complaint - in fact, many a compliment. Pizza toppings...my 7 year old loves cheese & sliced tomatoes & both boys love peppers...my 10 year old loves pineapple. Speaking of pineapple, all my boys like pineapple sauteed with soy sauce.... Now, back to reading... m
Guest guest
The b-day is next week. I was born at 5:44am on the 30th of March, 1955. My tradition is, at 5:43am, I begin to look at myself... watching myself become a year older! :^) ===== Jiraph, don't know if you had the bday yet... " The cat did not respond.
