Subject: lentils cooking time?

i just added the lentils to a pan of broth and

water and brought them to a boil. Then i turned

the heat down to a simmer, covered the pan, and

cooked them until they were tender.

 

Most cookbooks where they list bean cooking

times suggest that red lentils only need about 20

minutes to cook and brown lentils about twice that

[40 to 60 minutes]. However, i always find they

need more than that to have the texture i prefer.

i didn't time how long i cooked them in this recipe

prior to adding them to the loaf mixture, but i know

it was a bit over a half hour. Hope this helps. :)

so how long did you soak them prior to cooking them?

Well, that's the best part about lentils,

they don't require presoaking to cook them.

They are full of nutrition and easy to cook. :)

Well, that's the best part about lentils,

they don't require presoaking to cook them.
