Guest guest
The Chai discussion made me think of hot chocolate. Have any of you ever made your own hot choc. mix? I've heard of people doing this, and like the thought of being able to control the ingredients (control freak or concerned mom...sometimes I wonder). I also wondered how to store it and how long it will keep??? I'm with you pt - gonna try those chai cookies with my kids - they like interesting and spicy flavors and I think they'll be a fun change. I'm pretty sure they've got a chai mix at Fred Meyers, it is in a purple bag I think...and I think they've got a vanilla version which might be good for the cookies too... Can't wait to try it, Donna!! m
Guest guest
I don't know if you could make your own hot chocolate mix from actual chocolate, but the recipe on the back of the hershey's cocoa powder is really really good. You could add as much or whatever kind of sugar you wanted (sugar in the raw etc.) It would keep for forever since everything is dry, but you have to add milk, not water. maybe dry milk powder stuff would work? Yup, you can grate the chocolate (whatever kind tastes good to you). Put a few tbsp in a mug and pour steaming soymilk over.... stir and enjoy! Guest guest
Although I don't make hot chocolate mix by scratch. I do have a favorite chocolate that I use. I can't stand using the powder mixes, they taste too salty. Have any of you tried Ibarra? It comes in a yellow octagonal box with red striping with individuly wrapped discs of chocolate that are divided into eight triangles. I usually use two triangles per cup. Heat milk, but do not boil. Add the chocolate to a blender and pour the hot milk in. Puree until well blended and foamy. Very delicious!
