when it runs out there I am in the kitchen making bread. Now, that it

is rising I am here or do other activities that need to get done. I

don't like the bread in the market it is massed produced!!!!!The

speciality stores are an hour away, so msking bread is faster.

I agree!!!!

I love to make and eat homemade bread!

i was in a funk when we first move to NYC because I couldn't find bulk

yeast anywhere, and I couldn't bring myself to buy one of those little

envelopes of yeast! When I finally spotted it on the shelf at Whole

Foods, I felt like I was walking on air.. It was like my whole body

rose up!

=)

I have been baking our family bread for almost a dozen years now! =)

I have a bread maker and use the yeast and bla bla. I see a lot of recipes that

look really good that call for baking powder or soda in place of the yeast and

say to put in a loaf pan and bake. Has anyone made bread like that?

Blessings,

Chanda

PS. I don't wanna bother to buy the loaf pans if the recipes are no good :o(

Baking powder/soda breads are what's called quick breads they don't

need a rise time. They tend to be quite sweet, and often dense, but

can also be light like a muffin. I've never made one in a bread

machine, but if there's a setting for it, I don't know why it wouldn't

work! OTOH, they are easy - pretty much mix the wet stuff, mix the

dry stuff, then mix the two together with as few strokes as possible.

Bake and enjoy...
