Guest guest
Hi everyone. I've been lurking on this list for over a year but haven't posted before. I have been lacto-ova veg for about two years now and have enjoyed the recipes and chatter. I need some help for my daughter and her boyfriend. They have bravely gone directly to vegan 3 weeks ago. My daughter has never cooked before and would appreciate your reccomendations of good, simple vegan cookbooks. She says everything she looks at seems to be complicated and have tons of expensive, strange ingredients. We'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, Debra
Guest guest
The 2 best for beginners, in my opinion, are Peta's Compassionate Cook and Vegan Vittles. Basic ingredients, easy to make, delicious recipes. Veronica At 11:11 PM 4/12/2005 +0000, you wrote: >Hi everyone. I've been lurking on this list for over a year but >haven't posted before. I'm reading it now because it has a lot of good info at the beginning plus i want to go thru the recipes. I am gearing up to go vegan myself ) peace nikki ps... so glad to see VV recommended! - Diamond Dog The 2 best for beginners, in my opinion, are Peta's Compassionate Cook and Vegan Vittles. Guest guest
Hey Debra - Vegan can be tough, especially going straight to it. Nowadays, though, it is easier cuz so many more people do it & you can find stuff at stores. Check out any whole food stores in your area - they at the very least will have recipes either at the check-out or somewhere around. Also they may offer cooking classes! I have a vegan friend (we're lacto-ovo-veg) and she has these books I can recommend - Becoming Vegan by Davis and Melina (full of nutrition info) - The Complete Vegan Cookbook, sorry don't know the author - and I love this one, The Candle Cafe by Pierson. There are many, many cookbooks available. Try amazon, you can read reviews which I find to be a huge help! m
