i was just reading the digests from the group

this morning and caught a few posts about

Worcestershire, Yes, most brands of this

sauce do contain anchovies (wee lil' fishies),

but there are a few on the market that are

vegan-safe. The one i have is made by Kroger¨.

We may even have a recipe for a homemade

version of Worcestershire in our files, for those

of us that are ambitious and don't like the store

brand sauces. *s*

Wow, I didn't Kroger had a vegan one... of course, there's no Kroger

where I am now.

Mine is The Wizard's Organic Vegan Worcestershire.

Yeah, we don't have a Kroger store in this area

either, but the Fred Meyer grocery store stocks

the Kroger Worcestershire sauce ~ go figure.

i have heard about the Wizard's brand on this

list a while back; it seems the thread about

Worcestershire sauce comes up every now

and then. i have always wanted to buy it to try.

i keep my eyes open for it when i go to places

with a good healthfood grocery department....

one of these days. :)

Judy,

I thought that someone had a substitute recipe for Worcestershire in the group

files.

A quick and dirty substitute would be soy sauce or Bragg's but it wouldn't be

quite the same.

Re: Louisiana Tofu Cakes with Tartar Sauce

Where is a good source of Worcestershire Sauce? I have looked and

looked and can't find any. I used to buy the Kroger brand from Kroger

grocery store, but where we have moved to now, there is no Krogers and the

health food Stores have none.
