Wow, the threads that mentioned germs had me

squirming in my chair at times and laughing in

fond rememberance at other times. i think the

child licking the shopping cart handle took the

cake! *lol* Wow! That sort of stuff could give a

mother grey hairs!

When i was a child i lived near a dairy farm in

upstate NY. i would always hang out in the fields

with my cow-friends. My mother would have fits

because i would lay down next to the cows that

were laying down, and rest my head on their

big bellies, or worse yet, climb up on their backs

and give them hugs. She was afraid i would be

crushed for sure!

But the worst thing i did was drink out of the

spring-fed stream that ran thru the cow pasture.

The cows would walk thru the water, poop in it,

etc, upstream, and that never phased me; i just

drank it whenever i was thirsty and it never

made me sick. *lol* We didn't have words in our

vocabulary like: e-coli, or salmonella. Maybe that

water was so fresh and cold and that is what kept

me safe; or maybe it was just the fairies and

childhood magick! *s*

It's childhood magick for sure. I licked my bugs, ate flowers and climbed the

tallest trees. Now the ladder scares me..........LOL Never got sick but did

break an arm from a fall and when the boomerang returned it broke a

tooth............LOL

Could be. *s*

Where abouts in upstate NY are you from?

i grew up in a little town called Wells Bridge;

located between Oneonta and Sidney. A nice

railroad, and country farm area.... very rural! *lol*

When we know about our ancestors,

when we sense them as living and

as supporting us, then we feel connected

to the genetic life stream, and we draw strength

and nourishment from this.

Sorry for the late reply; I was out of town visiting my twin sister

(she and I and DH did a triathlon together).

How funny! I grew up only an hour or so southeast of there! Windsor,

near Binghamton.... when I was growing up there was a neighbor across

the street, and my grandmother was the next door neighbor...

otherwise, the other neighbors were separated from us by fields and

woods. Now of course, it's different, but it was a great place to

grow up! Probably not quite as rural as Wells Bridge though.
