Guest guest
I make my peanut butter in the machine at Whole Foods and I make all my refried beans from scratch. If I use canned ones I don't tell my Mom, that would be a sin to her. I also make fresh mashed potatoes. I don't eat instand oatmeal either, I make it from old fashioned or steel cut oats. I had never eaten steel cut oats until I learned about them in this group. I have to make those a few times a week. They are something I crave now. Guest guest
Down here in South Texas we usually have very low prices on fruits and vegetables. Last night I bought large red and green peppers, 2 for .99 cents, cucumbers 2 for .99 cents, nice portabello mushrooms $2.49 lb, large bunches of red radishes 3 for .99 cents, beautiful large tomatoes .69 cents lb, tangelos, oranges, white onions, 3 lbs for .99 cents, large bunches green onions 3 for ..99 cents, avacatoes 3 for .99, white mushrooms $1.98 lb., and a whole lot more at my local Sun Harvest Market. A few months back when tomatoes were $2.99 a lb and much higher, I was buying them here for .49 cents a lb. Guest guest
I agree with you 100%... 1. Bread I love making it. Homemade bread doesn't have all the chemicals and preservatives in it. Homemade is healthier. 2. Salad dressings homemade has better flavor. Again no chemicals and preservatives. Homemade is healthier. 3. peanut butter. The store bought ones all taste burned to me. 4. Canned soups, cause I have never found one that tastes as good as homemade. None of them taste like real food. Joanie

Guest guest
My hubby is not vegetarian and I absolutely refuse to buy pork or have it in my home. I will buy chicken and beef at times for him but I much prefer to serve him my home made gluten products and he does seem to enjoy them. Lucky for both of us he only requests meat products a few times a year. I am 98% vegetarian and he is about 75% vegetarian. I beg your tolerance while I wean myself off any meat products. I think it is going to be more and more important healthwise to remove all animal products from our diet and I am working toward that end. Guest guest
I absolutely refuse to buy any cooked greens ever, even if I am dying. And never any soy. Can't have it anyway, and it's already IN nearly everything on the market. Or rye bread, ick ick!
