Guest guest
I have never used cardamom and had a heck of a time finding any, but now that I have it I need some help. I bought green cardamom because my recipe didn't specify. It is in a pod. The recipe I want to try says to add pods but never says to take them out. Can you eat the pods? Or do you pick them out? I was just wondering because they don't look really edible and most of my other recipes call for cardamom seeds or ground cardamom. Thanks for any help! Guest guest
I use cardamom all the time. What type recipe are you making? Being a Swede we do use store bought ground but prefer to grind the seeds. The ground cardamom won't be as potent after a few months in the jar. Is this a spicy Indian dish? Guest guest
It's something called Megadarra from a cookbook called Kosher Cooking. So can I leave the whole pods in? Guest guest
SAhelly, I just leave cardamon in the food. people can just not eat it. Also some recipes use cinnomon and cloves whole. Just leave them in. The cardamon is edible. A lot of times i eat it but it is strong. Guest guest
Guru, are we the only two that eat the cardamom pod? LOL That is so strong but oh so good. I love to inhale the cardamom scent of fresh ground pods. Donna Guru Khalsa <greatyoga wrote: SAhelly, I just leave cardamon in the food. people can just not eat it. Guest guest
Me too - I love to eat cardamom pods. I seem to have become quite obsessed with this spice recently - I blame Donna, LOL. I had to go out and buy another tub of vegetarian cardamom ice cream yesterday evening, no other flavour would do.
