Guest guest
One of the few things I still miss after all these years is tuna salad. Has anyone tried Tuno? Good? Bad? Comments? TM

I've rarely been disappointed in the Morningstar products so I'm thinking how bad could it be (I may end up eating those words and not the Tuno, LOL). Thanks for your response. Guest guest
My opinion is to mix it in a tuno casserole or if you make a tuno salad make sure to add mayo, onion, celery and the fixings. It's not good straight out of the can. Chelsea , TendrMoon wrote: > > One of the few things I still miss after all these years is tuna salad. Has > anyone tried Tuno? Good? Bad? Guest guest
I second your comment that it does not taste very good straight from the can -- we purchased a case of the stuff and for what it costs -- it was a very good value nor does it taste very good -- have been trying to doctor it up but it still seems to fall short -- what I wish I could find again were mock shrimp -- those little suckers made for the best scampi or any kind of stir fry chelsea_cheetah <chelsea_cheetah wrote: My opinion is to mix it in a tuno casserole or if you make a tuno salad make sure to add mayo, onion, celery and the fixings. Guest guest
TM, there are two types of Tuno: one is canned and beyond awful IMHO, and the other is frozen in tubes and is very, very tasty. Get the latter, not the former. A natural or health food or SDA store can order it for you from Worthington if they don't stock it. I pay $4.95 per 12 oz tube, and to me it's worth every penny. I usually use half a tube in a mock " crab " cake recipe, then the other half of the tube in a salad, noodle casserole, or loaf. The only caviats are that it's a bit salty and moist, so I suggest that you squeeze the water out of it (grab handfuls and squeeze, that's all) and that you omit all added salt in a recipe until you've tasted it. But boy, is it delish~! Sherry in Oregon At 05:29 PM 4/17/2006, you wrote: >One of the few things I still miss after all these years is tuna salad. Has >anyone tried Tuno? Good? Bad? I've never heard of the frozer version. I'm glad I asked for feedback. Now all I have to do is find it. Thanks! TM

Guest guest
I too liked tuna, I have a can of TUNO still sitting in my pantry because I have heard it's not good! The versions of tofu sald, with soyonaise, mustard, celery, etc. are very good (more like egg salad than tuna though) melissa p , " chelsea_cheetah " <chelsea_cheetah wrote: > > My opinion is to mix it in a tuno casserole or if you make a tuno salad > make sure to add mayo, onion, celery and the fixings. Guest guest
Do you add minced nori or kelp powder? If you freeze and defrost the extra firm tofu it takes on a chewy texture also. I really prefer the tofuna salad compared to the real thing all those years ago. Help! I'm afraid of the canned tuno stuff...LOL Donna Melissa <mapalicka wrote: I too liked tuna, I have a can of TUNO still sitting in my pantry because I have heard it's not good! Guest guest
I've never had Tuno but read recently on The Vegan Lunch Box that it helps immensely to rinse the canned variety really good (they tried it once and thought it horrible -tried again with the rinsing and said it was fine) Shelly , " Melissa " <mapalicka wrote: > > I too liked tuna, I have a can of TUNO still sitting in my pantry > because I have heard it's not good!
