Guest guest
You can also just caramelize some onions and they will form a nice rich brown syrup and just add some water, flour, spices and it will be a gravy, even some minced mushrooms will caramelize with trhe onions. You can also use veggie broth powder in place of the veggies in the Kitchen Bouquet or use Mrs. Dash also. Here's links on sodium benzoate. http://www.curezone.com/foods/enumbers.asp http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0NAH/is_4_33/ai_100732356 All someone wouod have to do is carmelize the onions like you said and then you can add some veggie seasoning powder or even Mrs. Dash. It's cheaper too. GB ______________________ Message: 18 Wed, 19 Apr 2006 14:46:51 -0000 " strayfeather1 " Re: Vegan Gravy* Hi GB, It's just for coloring. It is made of caramel, water, carrots, onions, celery, parsnips, turnips, salt, parsley, spices, sodium benzoate mmm yum. It's very dark brown and doesn't have much flavor. There's no website on the bottle (how retro!) but there is a phone # 1-800-537-2823. I just use it to darken the gravy. When I don't it's a difference of gravy that looks like be*f gravy and gravy that looks like very light ch*cken gravy. Peace, Diane Gurubandhu If you cannot see God in all, You cannot see God at all. Guest guest
I do this also Guru or I will even add a little Braggs LIquid Amino or a little bit of the light soy sauce, I know Kitchen Bouquet is sometimes hard for members to find or they might want an alternative. Is Gravy Master the same thing?
